How to wash your silk
pillowslip

The most asked questions before investing in a silk pillowslip are: "How do I wash my silk pillowslip?" and "Can I wash my silk pillowslip in the washing machine?"

The answer: girl, you absolutely can! All sensi pillowslips are designed using 22 momme mulberry silk, and if you are new to the silk world, this is the highest grade that you can get because we do not settle for anything less, of course! This means you are able to wash sensi pillowslips in the washing machine.

However, sensi pillowslips do have a preference of being hand washed as silk is a natural fibre and requires a little bit of extra love and care.

Let's give you the washing 411 and the do's and the don'ts. Remember, the better you look after me, the better I will look after you. Simples!

Pillowslip Washing

Do's

- Preferred hand wash at 30 degrees or lower.
- Delicate machine wash at 30 degrees or lower.
- Machine wash inside laundry bag or turn me inside out.
- Only use a pH neutral liquid detergent.
- Dry clean [ no trichloroethylene].
- Line dry out of direct sunlight.
- Iron or steam on low heat to increase shine.

Don'ts

- Use powder detergent.
- Use trichloroethylene.
- Tumble dry.
- Use bleach.
- Line dry in direct sunlight.
- Use a non pH neutral liquid detergent.
- Put me in the washing machine with things that
will cause me to pull.

For machine wash, turn pillowslip inside out and put inside a laundry bag (if you have one). Wash on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees celcius or under with a pH neutral liquid detergent. Line dry in shade and iron your silk pillowslip on a low heat to retain its sheen.

For hand wash (preferred method), wash at 30 degrees celcius or under with a pH neutral liquid detergent. Line dry in shade and iron your silk pillowslip on a low heat to retain its sheen.

If you want to maximise the life of your pillowslip, hand washing is the ultimate method. And remember, the better you look after your sensi products the longer they will last, the more they will shine and the better they will look after you!

Silk is a natural fibre and washing in a solution that is too acidic or alkaline can cause the silk to harden in one wash. If you can’t find a detergent that specifies pH level then go for a silk specific detergent. Look after your silk products and they will look after you!

This is an extremely important factor. Even just slightly above 30 degrees celcius can change silk fabric dramatically. The safest method if your machine doesn’t specify exact heat settings is to set it to either cold or just one level above cold.

How to wash your silk
sleep mask

Sleep masks are a little different, think of them like the Carrie Bradshaw of the silk world and therefore need a little bit of extra love and attention.

Sensi sleep masks should be hand washed only in a pH neutral liquid detergent and ensure to wash regularly to keep it bacteria free! Hand washing might seem a little extra, but we did say they are like Carrie Bradshaw, and it only takes 10 minutes and those 10 minutes will help you say goodbye to wrinkles, pesty pimples and a bad night's sleep. So we would say it is definitely worth it!

Find below the do's and don'ts and everything you need to know to maximise sensi's lifespan, retain the softness and the silky shine!
